♡ salted caramel cake ♡

Hey guys! So I did some baking at the weekend and it turned out so well I decided to share it with you guys!  I haven't done a baking post in awhile so this is long awaited and ive been baking a lot recently so I had to do one!

 So I decided to bake a cake but instead of it being plain I make a salted caramel cake! This is quite simple and turned out amazing! salted caramel reminds me of Autumn so this is perfect for this time of the year! The cake recipe is from BBC good foods and it's not mine but I winged it with the salted caramel buttercream because I though it would be easier.

Ingredients :

~ Victoria sponge cake ~
200g caster sugar
200g softened butter
4 eggs, beaten
200g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp milk

~ buttercream Icing ~
100g soften butter
140g icing sugar

~ salted caramel buttercream icing ~
140g soften butter
170g icing sugar
6 tsp caramel sauce
A pinch of salt

Method :

To start Preheat oven to 180c. Butter your two cake tins and line with baking paper so it's easier to take out. In a large bowl, mix together all the cake ingredients until you have a smooth, soft batter.

Divide the mixture between the tins, smooth the surface with a spatula, then bake for about 20 mins until golden brown. Turn the cakes onto a cooling rack and leave to cool completely whilst you make the buttercreams

To make the plain buttercream filling, beat the butter until smooth and creamy, then gradually add in icing sugar till it's creamy and smooth.

To make the salted Carmel buttercream, I did it the lazy way! I just made my buttercream like in the step above and then added my caramel sauce and salt gradually!

To put it all together Spread the butter cream over the bottom of one of the sponges and sandwich the second sponge on top. Then just completely ice the cake with the buttercream. For decoration you can drizzle or mix in some caramel on top in a cute shape or do it how you should like!
