♡ day 17 - Christmassy shortbread ♡

December 17, 2018

Baking is so fun and putting a festive twist on it helps it be way more creative! During the festive season all we do is eat anyway so why not put some effort into baking so you can share homemade good with your family and give them more reason to eat it!

I’ve so many Christmassy baking ideas but overall I settled on making shortbreads. These are something my nan always got us when I was younger and I haven’t baked in awhile so I wanted to have a go! This photo is not mine, it’s from the yummiest food blog - http://yummiestfood.com/christmas-shortbread-cookies/ but it fitted perfect with my post.

 Ingredients
 - 125g butter
- 55g caster sugar
- 180g plain flour
- Christmas tree cookie cutter
- Red & green sprinkles

 Method
1. Pregeat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.
2. Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth texture.
 3. Gradually add and stir in the flour to get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and gently roll out.
 4. Using a cookie cutter, press it into the dough and put the Christmas tree shades onto a baking tray. 5. chill in the fridge for 20 minutes to allow the paste to form into a dough.
 6. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack. 7. Once they’re cool, decorate them how you would like!

I really loved these cookies (and so did my family the amount they ate) and I will be making them again for Christmas! I love shortbread but nothing beats homemade.
