♡ Decluttering tips ♡
June 01, 2019 There’s no denying I am a hoarder. I keep so many unnecessary things and end up with no room for stuff I need. About a year ago I realised, this needs to stop. It’s almost like something clicked in my brain and I became more minimalistic after watching afew YouTube videos on it. The more I declutter. the more little tips I manage to pick up and I want to share my tips. People love or hate this and it makes it so much easier and enjoyable picking up tips.
My first declutter was life changing. It felt refreshing to get rid of things I don’t need and made me excited to pass on things to be repurposed. It made me feel so free and I just kept wanted to repurpose or donate my old things. 2 year on I have annual declutter if my whole room and always get rid of so much and I makes me so happy to do it.
The must important thing when you are decluttering is you need to be in the right mindset - it’s hard work decluttering anyway of you are going to do it all at once so you have to want to do it and be ready and be ruthless. You need to be able to think If you don’t use or need it then don’t keep it and carry on with this.
I’ve really found that being ruthless doesn’t always work sometimes as you can really tell with some things. if you’re not sure wether to get rid of it - put it aside and if you don’t use it in a set amount of time it has to go. This can be a godsend sometimes as you just might need these bits sometime.
I always thank myself as it can come in use sometimes. When decluttering sometimes you see things you use all the time and want to keep but I’ve realised you can’t just judge by use, judge by age! Products go out of date and become bad for you so you need to repurchase once their shelf life is up, this is really important to remember.
Decluttering is a perfect way of repurposing things that don’t get love - if they’re stuffed at the bottom of a drawer or just don’t get love it’s nice to have them go to a better home! It helps you feel relieved and other people find new things they love - it’s a win win!

DeleteI completely agree that a huge part of decluttering is your mindset! My favorite tip that I came across is that if you don't love it within a few seconds then you should probably give it away.
ReplyDeleteexactly! x

DeleteThis is such a great post! My boyfriend is a hoarder and it drives me insane we have a big declutter every few months and if he has forgotten he has something or he hasn't used it in at least 6 months then it either gets recycled or given to a charity shop.

DeleteLovely post! I agree you must have the right mindset. I love the idea of decluttering annually. I recently watched "tidying up with Marie Kondo" and it was amazing! Got me motivated and inspired to declutter.

DeleteI am a hoarder! I still have boxes and boxes of unpacked stuff from two years ago! I have no clue what is in them, and clearly I don't need them, lol I really love the idea of de-cluttering. I'm quite inspired by this and am going to give it a try!

you neeedddd to get rid! xx
DeleteI'm trying to get better - especially with skincare samples etc.
ReplyDeleteThe best tip anyone ever gave me;
When you open a product (make-up or skincare) write on the package the date you opened it (I use a sharpie!) - most of them have a symbol on the back that tell you how long they are good for and then you know when you need to throw it out and replace!

DeleteI love tidying/decluttering! It's made me realise what I actually use and need. If I'm getting rid of something I usually take it to a charity shop and that feels good knowing it's going to new home x
