♡ Splurge vs save - makeup ♡

September 08, 2019

Makeup is something I wear everyday and is pretty much essential to me! I love it so much and I really enjoy trying new products. The more I buy the wiser I’m coming on where you should Splurge vs save in the makeup categories as some products I don’t think you need to spend as much on. This is more specific to people and their ways I think but I’ve found some drugstore products work just as well for me.

Brushes are something 100% worth the splurge! They are used everyday and what we need to apply the makeup I really think they are worth the investment because mr brushes have lasted me so long!

For the face I think primer is worth the splurge. I don’t know what it is about high end primers - they stick my makeup to my face and help ur last so much!! They’re so essential to me and I’ve found drugstore ones really don’t work with me so I splurge as much as I can on primers.

I think another great place to splurge is on highlighters. I love a strong blinding glow as it helps me look so much healthier and I’ve found that my high end highlighters have been so worth the money - they last forever and are so beautiful! I would happily spend my money on highlighters as they are worth it.

I think lip products make any look - so they’re worth the splurge! Don’t get me wrong drugstore do amazing lip products but you can’t beat Charlotte tilbury lipsticks, the luxury Dior lipgloss - my favourites! These last so long and feel so luxurious on the lips they are worth the money to help look so much better in a look. A lip product brings together the face and they necessary.

When it comes to saving I think the drugstore have some amazing base products. For foundation and concealer I tend to use my drugstore products as they work perfectly as they’re affordable and get used everyday. My L’Oréal true match foundation and makeup rev concealer are my so go to and they work amazing!!As well for base, you can’t go wrong with Rimmel stay matte! I think this powder is perfect and you wouldn’t need to splurge on a powder even this drugstore one is amazing

Brows are so important but I think you can save on them - there are such affordable brow pomades and brow gels that work perfect! You can save and still have amazing brows on a budget.

I really love trying makeup and and I’m so glad I’ve learnt so much over the time of doing it - makeup really is something we enjoy but you can save and splurge in any way you want. It’s all about trying and finding what works for you - and this is perfect for me!

  1. Great post Bailey. I'm not much of a makeup guru but these items seem great! And I do agree brows are important, probably the only thing makeup wise I do haha.

  2. I'm not a huge makeup wearer but I definitely agree that it's worth splurging on a great lipstick. There's nothing worse than a lipstick that's dry and doesn't last! x

  5. I barely wear any makeup now which is how I save money haha. If I'm going to invest in a product, I'd rather it be skincare. Do agree about the lipstick though!

  6. I have to agree on the Primer. I only discovered it when my sister was getting married abroad in the heat and the make up artist recommended it for us. Worked great - defo worth the splurge. We got 'mac' primer.
    Enjoy your splurge items!

  7. Hear me out: the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer is an amazing drugstore primer and I really think that it's comparable to high-end primers. I've also personally found high-end foundations to be better but I think a lot of that is more a case of finding the right product for you. What drugstore brow products would you recommend? I use the ABH Dipbrow Gel but would love to try some drugstore brow products too
